Virtual Club Championship - Spring update (4)

With 10 days to go before the end of the spring virtual race series a few more entrants but looking like there will be a flurry of activity in the last week…

A reminder to all entrants that the runs should start and finish in around the same place as either an out and back or a loop of no less than 1km.

For the women, two more half marathon performances: Mandy Cazes ran 1:50:02 for the current 2nd fastest half marathon time, with Rosemary Gallagher not far behind in 1:52:56. But Clair Howison remains the fastest women over 13.1 miles! Mandy followed up her half with what is currently the fastest 10km for the women in 49:19, knocking Claire Rice of the top spot. Tracy Curle ran 50:58 and Rosemary Gallagher in 51:15. This means Mandy is now the overall leader and Tracy is now tied into second alongside Rosemary - our top 3 women have completed 2 or more events, so all to run for in the final week.

For the men, Geoff Pendril has improved on his 3km time to 12:18 (from 12:27) however this is not enough to move him up the table. Geoff also ran a faster half time in 1:41:16 (from 1:44:06) but again, unfortunately due to others efforts, it’s not enough to keep him dropping down to 3rd - great effort nevertheless! Paul Dudchenko ran what is currently the 2nd fastest half in 1:34 51, pushing him up the table into 2nd and David Mumford has entered the tables with a 10km effort of 51:48. Martin Hawksey remains our overall leader for now.

In the handicap, Tracy Curle’s 10km (35:26) means she is now the overall leader for the women with Mandy Cazes in 2nd with her 10km (36:44) and half (1:22:05) performances. Rosemary, having also now ran 2 events puts her in 3rd, with her 10km (36:55) and half (1:21:19)

For the men, Geoff Pendril’s quicker 3km (9:49 handicap) and half (1:20:46) means he keeps his podium spot for now, fending off Paul Dudchenko with his half (1:20:03). David Mumford has a solid 10km handicap of 38:04.

Still plenty to run for and remember to submit your times through the Virtual Club Championship page. You’ll also find details on how the scoring system works and how the handicaps are calculated.
