Virtual Race Series - August update (1)

We are now half way through August and well into races 5 and 6 of our Summer Virtual Race Series. This month we have The Mile and another chance to run a fast 5k.

Handicaps have been recalculated and a select few athletes have got themselves on the board early.

Neil Halliday has run our fastest mile so far in 6:52 (giving a handicap time of 5:30). Malcolm Hughes would have been testing current social distancing rules if it had been a real race, coming in just 2 seconds back in 6:54 (5:50 handicap). David Mumford ran a solid 7:18 on the canal, however, more impressively this equates to a 5:20 handicap mile!

David and Malcolm are the only 2 athletes to have both races done so far. David in 25:32 (18:39) and Malcolm in 21:51 (18:27), again a close handicap race. Geoff Pendrill, having taken a break during July is back in August to post a 5k time of 22:46 and an impressive 17:53 handicap.

The ladies seem to be saving their fitness for the end of the month (or you’re all on holiday?) and therefore there are no updates for them just now…
