Weekly Update: Podium finish for Linlithgow AC at 7R Half Marathon

On Friday Scott Cumming got the weekend running off to a fast start at 3k on the Green. A flat, fast race ran at the end of each month at Glasgow Green. Scott finished in 13:06.

Congratulations to John Redding who took first place at the 7 Reservoirs Half Marathon on Sunday. The underfoot conditions were challenging and icy in places but despite this the race had some excellent finishing times. John finished in a fantastic 1hr 24m 51s. Mike Watts also ran and finished in 1hr 48m 29s. Great running from both.

Also on Sunday, Jill Horsburgh ran the Gravy Pud fell race starting in Tintwistle (Peak District). The 5.5 mile race also has 1000ft of ascent. Jill finished in 57m 35s (1st V55).

It was the final weekend to put down a fast parkrun time meaning the Club Championship came to a close for another year. The Club’s annual prize giving and awards night will also soon be upon us and this year the Club will also celebrate its 40th Anniversary. This year’s event will take place at the Linlithgow Burgh Halls on the 14th December and will host members past and present in what is sure to be an excellent evening.

Lastly, a small group of Club coaches and Jogleaders spent Sunday learning emergency first aid, practicing CPR, how to use an AED amongst other life saving skills – congratulations to Yvonne McHugh, Rachel Waugh, Graham Chambers, Paul Mayland, Frances Wood, Alex. Wood, Karen Duncan, Ian Douglas, Roddy Simpson and Ian Fyfe.

A belated congratulations also to Mike Watts and Ian Fyfe who recently completed their Coaching Assistant course at Grangemouth and join the ranks of the Club’s coaching team and are currently leading the paced run sessions on alternate Tuesday evenings.
