Virtual Race Series update (3)

Things are hotting up as we head towards the second half of our June virtual race series.

For the ladies Cockleroy race, Jill Horsburgh has entered the fray with a 48:22 (handicap 44:19), which drops Alison Marshall down to 3rd.  Lynsey Hay however, remains firmly in 1st place with her 41:19.

Cockleroy summit…

Cockleroy summit…

In the last week, the fastest male athlete up and down the mighty Cockleroy has changed no less than 3 times.

Young James Hammond, putting his youthful speed to good use, raced up and down in 37:26 (handicap 34:20). Unfortunately for him, he sat aloft the leaderboard for only a short while as his father Paul almost broke the 37min barrier with his impressive 37:01 (33:29) (I wonder what the chat over that evenings dinner was!). Then along come Ian Logan who smashed the record to post a time of 34:16 (34:16). Is there anyone out there who can beat this?

Others have also set some impressive times for the lung busting climb. Angus Gallie (43:14 (36:58)), David Main-Reade (45:15 (28:59)) and Graham Chambers (48:50 (32:43)) have all been up and down this week - well done to them.

Scott Hyslop remains the fastest runner around the 5k loop with his 21:09 set last week. Graham Burrows (24:54 (16:41)), Roddy Simpson (27:24 (18:13)) and Hannah Danson (24:25 (23:34)) being the only additions this week - again, well done to you all.

Neil Anderson and Lynsey Hay remain the 2 fastest cumulative over both events.

Even with this flurry of activity, there hasn't been a huge change to the overall leaderboard. Neil Anderson remains at the top of both tables for now, with Graham Burrows sneaking into the bronze medal position in the handicap.

Hannah Danson and Jill Horsburgh collectively push Alison Marshall out of the medal positions whilst Lynsey Hay remains on top. It appears the ladies are holding their cards close to their chest for now. Will we see a flurry of activity as the end of June deadline looms?

Quick thank you to all those who have joined the LAC Strava group this past week. This will really help us pick up times, however, please ensure that your privacy settings are such that the group can see your runs. If you do not want to do this, no problem, please just email John your effort.

Standings upto Friday 19th June (cumulative time in brackets).
