Lets Go Linlithgow

Scottish Athletics & JogScotland Annual Awards: Group of the Year!

The 4J Studios scottishathletics and jogscotland Annual Awards 2021 were presented at the Glasgow Hilton on 9 October 2021, with host Bryan Burnett and Guest of Honour, five-time Olympian, Jo Pavey MBE. The club’s own jogscotland group, Let’s Go Linlithgow (LGL), was shortlisted in the ‘Group of the Year’ category…

LGL celebrated its third anniversary this year and in that time it has grown from a single jog leader running one session a week, to having 15 jog leaders leading five sessions a week. The group is now very much part of the club, offering joggers (and the wider community) the opportunity to attend paced 5k runs, beginner track sessions, and has helped grow the club membership, provided pacers and new coaches to the club.

For the 3rd year in a row the Club was shortlisted but this time we won! Club President, Angus Gallie, was delighted to pick up the award on behalf of LGL and the Club. Special mention also to Lorna Simpson who started the group and without her hard work and dedication, the group may not have existed. A proud moment for all involved.

The return of social paced runs

Paced runs set to return in April

Given the recent easing of restrictions, we are pleased to announce the return of our popular social paced runs in April 2021.

Starting Thursday 1st April at 7 pm meeting at the public car park at West Lothian Cricket Club.

The runs will operate three paced times over a 5k course, running at roughly 25-minute, 31-minute and 37-minute pace, with groups setting off at 15-minute intervals to ensure social distancing.

The route will be around Springfield, starting and finishing at the cricket club, with plenty of space for people to run and avoiding busy roads and junctions.

The runs will be open to all (not just Club members). We will operate the runs via our Jogscotland group Let’s Go Linlithgow. We will have three groups of eight, including two JogScotland Jog Leaders, so no-one gets left behind.

Find out all you need to know on our social paced runs page.

Let's Go Linlithgow - Winter 2020 Sessions

Combined sessions including 5k-to-10k Programme

From the 10 January 2020 Let’s Go Linlithgow will be offering a combined session aimed runners interested in our Couch-to-5k programme and for those have already completed the programme. These sessions will be free with the support of Linlithgow Athletic Club meet at the Cross, Linlithgow, 9.30am Fridays

The development programme is for those who can already jog continuously for 30 minutes or 5K and who want to build up to 10K. To give continuity to those who have already participated in a Couch-to-5K, and who want to keep jogging without building up to 10K, the sessions will be combined. Those participating in the development programme will gradually build up time and distance whereas those who want to maintain their jogging will have other options including doing parts of the development programme or a session with jogleaders at the Peel and you can decide on the day what you want to do.

As this will be winter, each session will depend on paths being free of ice and snow. The 5K to 10K programme is ten weeks but could take longer if sessions have to be cancelled due to the winter weather conditions. This should still give ample time to target the Round the Houses 10K at Grangemouth on 19 April 2020, although it will be up to each jogger to decide what they want to do.

Please note that to take part in the Combined Sessions starting on 10 January you must confirm with Alex at: alexander.wood@blueyonder.co.uk, be a member of Jogscotland and have submitted a PARQ form.

A new beginners’ Couch-to-5K programme is planned for April 2020 and, as the number of jogleaders has increased, it will be held on Monday evenings as well as Friday mornings and there will be more information nearer the time. It is proposed that this will be followed by another development programme from 5K to 10K later in the summer targeting the Linlithgow 10K in early October.
