Super Sunday Run-day for LAC

It was a Super Sunday for LAC this weekend. The Club had runners at races in The Highlands, The Scottish Borders and in Frankfurt, Germany.

The race of the weekend was undoubtedly in Germany, where Alison Marshall, Karen Outram and Clair Howison were part of the 14000+ runners at the Frankfurt Marathon. All 3 managed to get under the 4-hour milestone with some consistent running. Karen was first over the line for Linlithgow in 03:45:49, followed by Clair Howison in 03:50:47 and Alison Marshall in 03:57:21.

Also on Sunday, Paul Ward was at a very wet and windy Culloden 10K, near Inverness. The event is wholly organised by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland (NTS). The fast, mostly flat route passes around the quiet perimeter roads of historic Culloden Battlefield. Paul finished in 42:20.

In contrast to the weather in the north, Frances Wood and Martin Maginnis were in a sunny but cold Scottish Borders for the Jedburgh Running Festival. Frances, running the 10k, finished in 48:12, 12th woman and 1st FV60. Martin ran the Half distance, earning a PB in the process, finishing 01:29:30, 6th M30 and 28th overall.

Earlier in the week, the Club welcomed 25 runners at the first of its newly set-up 5km Paced Social Runs. The pacer-led sessions are aimed at those new or returning to running. If the first session is anything to go by, these sessions are very much welcomed by the local running community. The next paced session will be on Tuesday 12th November starting at the Low Port Centre, 7.15pm.

At parkrun, the Club had 14 runners across 7 different runs.
