About the junior race

The Junior Fun Run is a great chance for younger athletes (aged 8 years to 15 years old) to taste the atmosphere of the main event, the Linlithgow 10K. The Junior Fun Run and is also held under licence from Scottish Athletics.

The event raises a modest amount of money that is used to help fund the work the club does in promoting and providing opportunities for athletics in our community. No individuals within our organisation gain financially from the event in any way.

Entries on the day

Although online entries have closed on Entry Central for both events, we are pleased to announce we will be able to process entries for the Fun Run on the day from 12PM to 1.30PM, registration is located on the first floor at the Burgh Halls

Race Logistics and Facilities

RACE START POINT

The race starts in Linlithgow High Street and finishes in the historic Linlithgow Palace Peel area.

RACE NUMBER & TIMING CHIP

The arrangements for competitors obtaining numbers with timing chips (attached to bib) have still to be confirmed. Competitors will be informed nearer the event date.

NUMBERS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE.

TRAVEL and PARKING

Linlithgow is a well-connected town with access to both M9 and M8 motorways. Linlithgow railway station is a short walk from the start and finish. There are several car parks in the town: (1) New station overflow car park off the Edinburgh Road to the east of the town (adjacent to cricket club). (2) Long stay car park adjacent to Tesco's. (3) Loch-side car parks, accessed from Water Yett and St Ninians Way. (4) The Vennel car park at the Cross (charges). Please park considerately. Please do not park illegally.

Toilets

Facilities will be available at the Burgh Halls, (near the start line) and at the Low Port Centre (opposite Tesco). Limited toilet facilities have also been made available in the following public houses on the High Street, near the start line: The Four Mary's and the Old Post Office.

Please note - masks must be worn prior to gaining access to all these buildings.

ASSEMBLY AND START

Junior Fun Runners should assemble from 2:15 pm in the road across the High Street from the Cross. This road leads off the High Street from between Tam Dalyell House (the Linlithgow Partnership Centre which houses the library, museum, etc) and the Court Residence building, towards the old Police station building. Marshals will be on hand to guide you to the correct location.

THE ROUTE

The 1.9k route follows the High Street towards the West Port before heading loch-side towards the Palace, finishing with a lap of the Peel. Some of the paths around the loch are narrow and the club cannot guarantee there will not be other users. Please obey the signals and directions given by route stewards – for safety reasons please do not wear headphones. 

A Lead Cyclist will help guide the runners along the route and a Sweeper Cyclist will follow the field.

Marshals

Please remember our volunteer marshals are giving up their time to help everything run smoothly. Please treat them respectfully!

Results

Timing and results are provided by Perfect Timing. While results will not be available immediately, they will be available on the Perfect Timing website after the race.

Rewards

All finishers will be handed a medal and modest goody bag at the finish area.
