Holiday running: Linlithgow Athletic Club Weekly Roundup

Linlithgow Athletic Club runners know exactly how to enjoy holidays: they run!  Last week saw our athletes compete across the UK, and even further afield.

On Wednesday, Lorna Simpson was in the west of England and ran Race 4 of the Yeovil Town 5k summer series, a great course with friendly people, in 23:10.

Alex Wood ran Garscube Harriers’ Charlie Kilshaw Memorial 5 mile race at the scenic (and superbly flat!) Mugdock reservoir on Thursday evening and finished in 42:48

On Sunday Graeme Wilkinson took part in the Virgin Sport British 10K in London. With the heat hitting 30 degrees, expectations were adjusted and he ran 53:02.

Also on Sunday, Martin Maginnis and Laura Finlay ran the Scurry to the Sea race, a 12 mile 'dash' from Hillend ski slope up to the top of Allemuir and then down through Edinburgh and along the beach to the finish at Musselburgh. Martin finished in 1:49:51 and Laura in 2:28:37.

Saturday’s parkruns also hit a range of venues.  Jennifer Newton wore Linlithgow’s vest in Queenstown, New Zealand, and finished in 26:13 (1st VW50).  Richard Wood completed Leicester Victoria in 19:05 and was 1st VM45.  Michael Watts completed Northwich in Cheshire in 21:04 (2nd SM30 and a new PB.).  Graeme Wilkinson ran Ispwich in 24:43.  Closer to home, Lorna Simpson finished Livingston in 22:20 (2nd Female and 1st VW40) and Jill Horsburgh finished in 25:12 (1st VW55).  Gary Welsh ran Falkirk in 23:40.  At Edinburgh, Scott Cumming finished in 25:19 and David Main-Reade in 25:38.
